QUALITY STANDARDS

Quality Standards

Documentation before claims. Our quality program is built around supplier qualification, receiving controls, lot identification, and controlled release.

HOW WE VERIFY

Our Quality Process

Supplier Qualification

Suppliers are reviewed before materials are approved for the catalog.

Third-Party Testing

Independent laboratory testing supports the documentation published for qualifying lots.

Lot Traceability

Lot identification connects each unit to its documentation record in the Royal Archive.

Our Approach to Quality

Quality isn’t a single number on a label. It’s a set of processes we apply consistently, every time — sourcing, testing, documentation, and handling. This page walks through those processes in general terms. Specific results for a specific product and lot, where available, live on that product’s own page under its Documentation tab, tied to the exact material offered.

Sourcing

We work with manufacturing partners selected for their process controls and their willingness to provide the documentation researchers expect. Sourcing decisions weigh manufacturing consistency, documentation practices, and the partner’s track record — not price alone.

What “Third-Party Tested” Means

When we describe a product as third-party tested, we mean that an independent laboratory — separate from the manufacturer — has analyzed a sample from a specific production lot and issued a report on that sample. Third-party testing is meaningful because it removes the manufacturer from the role of grading its own work. It is not a guarantee about any unit outside the lot tested, which is why lot-level traceability matters as much as the test itself.

What Purity Figures Mean

Purity figures describe the proportion of the intended compound present in a tested sample, as determined by an analytical method such as HPLC (high-performance liquid chromatography) or mass spectrometry. A purity figure is a property of a specific tested sample and lot, not a permanent property of a product line. We publish purity information only when it is backed by a specific report for a specific lot, and we link that report in the Royal Archive rather than asserting a number without a source behind it.

Our Certificate of Analysis (COA) Process

A Certificate of Analysis is generated when a sample from a given production lot is tested by a laboratory and the results are compiled into a formal report. Our general process is:

  1. A sample is drawn from a specific manufacturing lot.
  2. The sample is sent to a testing laboratory for analysis.
  3. The laboratory issues a report identifying the compound tested, the method used, and the results for that sample.
  4. The report is associated with the corresponding product and lot number in our records.
  5. Where we are authorized to publish the report, it is made available on that product’s own page under its Documentation tab. Documentation not yet published there can be requested through Contact with the product name and lot number.

Not every lot will have a published COA available at every point in time. Where documentation is pending or unavailable, we say so rather than implying a result that has not been produced.

Storage and Handling Standards

Research materials are sensitive to temperature, light, humidity, and handling. Our general standards include:

  • Cold-chain awareness. Materials that require refrigeration or freezing are packaged and shipped with that requirement in mind, and product listings note any special storage requirement provided by the manufacturer.
  • Light and moisture protection. Materials are stored and shipped in packaging intended to limit light and moisture exposure appropriate to the material.
  • Lot segregation. Inventory is tracked by lot so that documentation, storage handling, and any quality inquiry can be traced to the specific material a customer received.
  • Handling guidance for recipients. Where a manufacturer specifies storage conditions after receipt (for example, refrigeration or protection from light), that guidance is included with the product listing and shipment.

Research Use Only

All products described on this page are offered strictly for qualified laboratory and research use, not for human or veterinary consumption, diagnosis, or treatment. See our Research-Use Policy for complete terms.
